By my Bedside

When i come home after an absolutely exhausting day all i want to do is curl up in bed and read a fabulous book. My 2 favourite all time books are The Shock of The fall by Nathan Filer and You're the one that i want by Giovanna Fletcher. Both of these are absolutely amazing book- a must read!
However i will always have my kindle on hand with a new book to read, because I always need new books to get me to sleep at night. As you many notice there is one book i have not mentioned yet- a dog book! If you have read my Meet Percy post you will know i have a new dog!
I also have Body Butter in Strawberry for my hands and feet- to keep them moisturised and soft.
Halo hygenic wipes- because you can never be too careful.
Vaseline is an obvious bedside staple all across the world, i mean who needs dry lips?
Finally tissues as it's winter soon (shudders)!

What do you keep by your bedside?

Clinique Facial Soap

Summer has officially ended in England *looks sadly out the window*, yet i still want my skin to glow!
This facial soap was basically a impulse purchase ( I mean what don't I buy on an impulse?) for £11.50,and I have come to believe that if you keep your skincare routine simple and not too fussy your skin will find its natural glow.
I use this morning and night, at night when I take my makeup off. I love it. I am not a regular user of Clinique but I have great things about the brand.
This my friends, is da bomb. Seriously I mean not many people think of using something so simple, I barely see any soaps in skincare routines, there needs to be more.
This has most definitely found a firm place in my beauty drawer.

Night Before Flight Routine.

Before I go on any holiday I always have my 'evening before ritual'. In attempt to be 'bikini ready'!
I have been doing this for years, however some products have been switched out or added due to new discoveries!

After a long day I come in and immediately take off my makeup (thanks to the persistent advice from Caroline Hirons!)
Then I have a nice long shower/bath and wash my hair with Liz Earler Botanical shine shampoo & conditioner, they are very gentle and perfect for damaged hair. Then the obvious one - shaving my rather neglected hairy legs, no one wants hairy gorilla legs on holiday, with an everyday cheap razor. I mean I do wonder how people don't get utterly exhausted from shaving your legs every single day without fail.
Post-Shower I moisturize from head-to-toe with a nice thick cream, to rid of my scales. Recently I have been using Aqueous Cream from Superdrug, it literally has worked wonders on my skin.
Face-wise I cleanse with Liz Earle Hot Cloth cleanser and tone with Liz Earle Tonic (not pictured), moisturizing with Pro-activ Repairing treatment no 3 ( been using this for a very long time, it is one of my skin staples).
A new addition to my ritual is Boots eye gel, it moisturises and relaxes my eyes, the thing that surprised me was that I noticed a difference using it.
If I have any spots I will use Antiac Activ spot treatment, I usually always have this in the back of my cupboard in some form.
Finally I will paint my nails and bury myself into a good book, this holiday I painted them Barry M Gelly varnish 'Prickly pear' - a lovely lilac colour which works with multiple outfits.

Do you have any before holiday rituals? Please share!

Holiday Haul!

Well I certainly have not posted for a while. To be honest, I have had a slump. A complete blogging slump! I think I have found my interests again, so to kick start my blog again - I have a haul for you!
*sorry for the bad picture quality, took these pictures on my iPad!*

So firstly I bought Garnier Express 2 in 1 eye make up remover, the thing that attracted me to it was that it claims to protect your eyelashes. As many make up removers are harsh on your eyes and then result in many eyelashes falling out. No one wants bare eyes!
Then I bought Clearasil Blemish + Marks scrub, I bought this because I have had some spot issues round my nose and need to combat them now.
I also bought a Boots Essentials Eye gel. Oddly enough I have never owned an eye cream/gel before this. So I thought I should try a cheap one and see how it works.
Make-up wise I bought, Loreal nude magique CC cream ( the anti redness one) and Rimmel wake me up concealer. No particular reason why I bought these just wanted to try them!

Expect reviews of these products soon!

A change....

So.. I have changed my name! I am now the 'Skinny Lipstick'. I felt like this change was a long time coming, as i continually grew to hate my name 'Crushing On Pink', it had no true meaning to me.
Until i finally bit the bullet and changed to 'Skinny Lipstick'!
Also i have given my site a face lift and changed its design, so it truly reflects what is on this blog.
Starting from now, there will not only be beauty posts but there will be Lifestyle and Food posts being posted regularly. I really feel this has given me the motivation to really blog again and not just go through the motions.
Enjoy life you only have one.

Vivo Laquer Shine Heavenly

 Another perfect Autumn/Winter lip colour!

This Lip Gloss is from Vivo and in the shade 'Heavenly' and i adore it. It retails for £1.99.

It is not super sticky, but just as a normal lip gloss does, it will stick to your hair.
The consistency feels thick and really smooth on the lips. The colour lasts for around 2-3 hours without messing with it, so it is definitely product which needs to be re-applied.
It has a nice applicator, which makes it very easy for you get to your lip corners.
Also the packaging is very sleek, but it does make it look cheap.
In a nutshell it is a wonderful product for £1.99!

Tip: If you pair this with Revlon Lip Butter in Macaroon it is amazing!

Vivo Beauty Balm

This product for me is a 'not much make up' day. It is from Vivo~link~ and retails for £5, Vivo is also available at Tesco now.

First of all is that i like the packaging, its plain and simple-nothing too fancy, which i am a fan of.
The whole idea of this product is that it gives you a light coverage, while evening your skin out.

I wear this on a weekend when i am taking a walk or something when i cant be bothered, as it is nice.
I think it does make my skin a little less red, and gives me a light glow.
Though if you have oily skin- like myself- prepare to get your powder out, as it gives a dewy finish but it areas where i am oily it doesn't cover it. It leaves a slightly sticky feeling, but don't worry as it is sorted out with powder.
I would have to add some concealer to under my eyes and blemishes as it is not a super strength concealer.
I would say is you have dry skin, this is perfect for you or if you don't have blemishes but your skin is a bit red!
Overall i like this product for light coverage but wouldn't use it everyday, as it is not enough for me!

High Beam By Benefit

This Highlighter was highly recommended to me by friends and family. This is £19.50 at Benefit, so a bit pricey but i used my boots points on it which is great as i paid nothing!
This highlighter is gorgeous, when you apply it to your cheekbone you don't look like a slimy mess and it looks beautiful. With this highlighter a little goes a long way in my opinion so this will last you a very long time.
It is smooth, no chunky glittery bits, and blends well. It does give a shimmer, but not an in your face shimmer!

The applicator is a brush which works well as you can literally dot it over your cheeks. One thing i have found that with a brush applicator it can get a tad messy!

Sorry i couldn't swatch it, it is super hard to swatch a product like this!

Benefit Triple Performance Moisturiser

Honestly i had never heard about this moisturiser before i went to browse in Boots. I was talking to lovely
Benefit lady about my skin problems and she recommended this moisturiser to me.
This moisturiser is aimed at oily/combination skin as it is oil free (find it here for £20.50), if you have dry skin there is a different moisturiser for you (find it here for £27.50).

This is a MIRACLE moisturiser for my skin!
This really cleared up my spots and hydrated my skin. It is quite a light moisturiser and has a pump applicator, which is great for measuring out how much you need.

I use this in the morning before i put my makeup on and at night before i go to sleep.

I used to think as i have oily skin i shouldn't put moisturiser on, how wrong i was! What ever skin type you have it is essential you moisturise your face!

MUA Eye shadow Palette- Heaven & Earth: First Impressions

I am definitely a neutral eye-shadow girl and do not really like bold colours, also do not like to spend a lot of money. So when i saw this eye-shadow palette from MUA that looks very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette i was ecstatic!

MUA (Make Up Academy) is only available in Superdrug and the MUA website, this eye-shadow was £4.

The pigment in the eye-shadows are 'ok' not fabulous but you can build if necessary, the darker colours are more pigmented and between the lighter colours there is not much difference. You have to remember thous there are 12 colours for £4 so it wouldn't be amazing.
Some of the darker shades have a nice glittery which is lovely and totally affordable for a budget.

Overall i give this a 4* out of 5, as it good and affordable!

Liz Earle Sheer Tint

Today i am going to review the Liz Earle sheer tinted moisturiser!
In the summer or whenever its hot i feel like foundation is way too heavy for my skin and i want something lighter. So i opt for a tinted moisturiser with a fair amount of coverage, some lucky ladies don't have to wear anything because they have perfect skin, where as i have small spots here and there.
I have found this tinted moisturiser to be very good on my skin, it doesn't make me feel to oily as it dries and sinks in very easily! It has not caused any breakouts and really given me the summer glow which we all want (with a bit of bronzer).
Also i wanted some sun protection as well, this has SPF15 as do most, but depending how hot it is i will either reapply this or regular sunscreen.
The packaging feels expensive, as it is in one of those 40ml bottles which makes you use a minuscule amount, which is good as a little goes a long way!
The only real let down is the price- £21, if you live in England some sun is an occasion to be remembered as it doesn't stay for long. If you only use this in the summer, like myself you will really need to only buy this once a year, but if you wear this as your 'base' all year round it would be alot of money.
So i am going to give this 4* out of 5, as the let down is the price!

May Favourites!

I know i am a tad late on doing this but i have some amazing products that i have loved this month so i really wanted to share them with you! (Also i have a cheeky book in my favourites assortment aswell)

1. Hoola Bronzer - £23.00
As some of you may know, who live in England, there has been spurts of sun throughout the month of May. Unfortunately i was not lucky enough to get that sunkissed look on my face, but this bronzer definitely made it look like i did. I just gently brushed this over my cheekbones and forhead giving me that beautiful sunkissed look. Obviously you can build it up, but whenever i attempted to build it, it looked like someone had smeared mud on my face?!

2. Clinique Chubby Stick - Mega melon - £16
I have nearly used this up as i have been wearing it everyday this month! I love it, it's moisturising with long lasting colour. I am very fussy what i put on my lips, it has to be moisturising or i don't like it, so this was wonderfully moisturising. Definitely going to repurchase this product.

3.Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks - Pale Pink - £18.00
Again, great shade for summer/spring as it adds light colour to your lips and cheeks! I love to pair this with my Rimmel nude lipstick, it just makes my lips look naturally pink and pretty. On my cheeks i only apply a little on the apples of my cheeks to give me a healthy glow.

4. Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. £8.99
I have done a review on this, so don't need to go into too much detail why i love it! Just it is amazing in sunlight, a light foundation. Also its gives a sparkly effect making you glow in the light!

5. Chocolate Wishes - Trina Ashley £6.99
My last item is a book this is such a fun easy read! Perfect for the holidays in the sun, where you do nothing but lie on a deck chair all day! Sadly this holiday i have been revising for exams, but when i wasn't this took my mind off everything, just great fun! If you love girly romantic/comedy type books, pop into tesco or local bookshop and purchase this!

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation!

I have to say before i bought this, i had heard so much about it. "Its fabulous, makes you look amazing etc". So i went into Superdrug the other day on the hunt for a new foundation, when i remembered the Wake Me Up foundation. Don't get me wrong i love Rimmel, it is one of my favourite Make Up brands, however i was very disapointed with their 25 hour foundation as i found it had an orangy base. I mean no one wants to look like a tangerine?! So i was a bit hesitant to pay £8.99 for their Wake Me Up but i am very glad i did!
It makes you look dewy, but not oily, as i do have oily skin and didn't want a foundation that would make it worse but it didn't. If you are extremely worried about this put a bit of powder on your oily bits. It has a slight shimmer which looks amazing in sunlight as it literally makes you glow. Finally, It has great coverage, i would say it has a medium coverage. So it doesn't give you complete full coverage but nothing a good concealer can't fix. If you want to get that shimmery glow but lighter coverage i reccomend pairing it with a moisturiser, which also looks lovely.
So overall i have to say this foundation is perfect for summer!
