Moments

I think we forget what it is like to just sit and do nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. No phone or laptop or any online device or music or magazine. But just to sit and be surrounded by silence and our own thoughts. That I believe, is scary to most of us.

In a world where everything is so fast and everything happens immediately, I feel myself getting pulled into this chaos where my equilibrium is off kilter. Whether that is watching the TV and being on my phone or being in a queue and not quite knowing what to do with myself, I feel a bit lost.

Looking around, I see people sucked into their devices, which may seem hyperbolic as I am writing this on a laptop. However I have been doing more observing in real life, more listening to me and less scrolling, less time wasting.

I have been  reading a book called 'Everything that Remains' about two Minimalists and their story. It has been so refreshing and wonderful to read, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
From reading this I realised I have been a bit lost in a world of complete buzz, being sucked into the word "successful". It made me re-evalute how I spent my time - I may be challenging myself this year, with things like no phone for a week etc. I feel genuinely excited by all this that its lovely!
While currently being a complete minimalist isn't what I want or can manage currently, taking little pieces from the lifestyle is the best way for me to stay real.

You know that feeling when you're with friends and family and you think "I am going to remember this moment forever", and you truly experienced it? You just were enveloped with that warm gooey feeling? That is my mission this year. To have more Moments like that. To create Moments and I suppose to share Moments.

This is very unlike my usual posts but this is a bit of a random patchwork type blog anyway!
Here is to more Moments (and more sharing moments on my blog!!)!

What I ate today - Spain

I love these posts as they give me huge inspiration for my meals in a day. I thought I would do a 'what I ate today' holiday edition. In Spain finding any vegan/vegetarian options is very hard - especially as they have isles upon isles or meat 😔. However once you have scoured the supermarket, you find a good few basic items. It really makes me realise how lucky we are in England to have such a wide variety of health foods.

For breakfast- I had a huge plate of fruit, full of water melon, peaches, grapes and a huge banana. Following that I had some basic cereal with soy milk and a blueberry soy yogurt. It was all pretty delicious and I felt very satisfied afterwards 😀!

For lunch I had 4 rice cakes topped with hummus, spinach and rocket. They are really quick and easy to make, while ofcourse being delicious. I had lunch quite late, around 3pm! In Spain they tend to eat everything later which means lots of lie ins! With my lunch I also had a peach which I bought from the market a few hours earlier.

I did exclude water in this post as I didn't class it as 'what I ate' as such. But I usually drink a minimum of 2 litres per day. Usually I drink more but it all depends on the layout of the day.
For dinner we had fajitas!! While the rest of my family had chicken on theirs, I opted for red beans and pan 'fried' peppers in mine fajitas. This was an amazing meal which I devoured quickly :). I also served a salad with the fajitas which went down a treat. In Spain we alternate between staying in or going out, this night we happened to stay in and cook our own meal.

After dinner I had a few squares of my 100% dark chocolate, my absolute favourite!

I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you a few ideas as I loved writing it!

By my Bedside

When i come home after an absolutely exhausting day all i want to do is curl up in bed and read a fabulous book. My 2 favourite all time books are The Shock of The fall by Nathan Filer and You're the one that i want by Giovanna Fletcher. Both of these are absolutely amazing book- a must read!
However i will always have my kindle on hand with a new book to read, because I always need new books to get me to sleep at night. As you many notice there is one book i have not mentioned yet- a dog book! If you have read my Meet Percy post you will know i have a new dog!
I also have Body Butter in Strawberry for my hands and feet- to keep them moisturised and soft.
Halo hygenic wipes- because you can never be too careful.
Vaseline is an obvious bedside staple all across the world, i mean who needs dry lips?
Finally tissues as it's winter soon (shudders)!

What do you keep by your bedside?

A change....

So.. I have changed my name! I am now the 'Skinny Lipstick'. I felt like this change was a long time coming, as i continually grew to hate my name 'Crushing On Pink', it had no true meaning to me.
Until i finally bit the bullet and changed to 'Skinny Lipstick'!
Also i have given my site a face lift and changed its design, so it truly reflects what is on this blog.
Starting from now, there will not only be beauty posts but there will be Lifestyle and Food posts being posted regularly. I really feel this has given me the motivation to really blog again and not just go through the motions.
Enjoy life you only have one.

Revlon ColorBurst Balm- Flirtatious

Well i decided to try a different background for this post today, hm not too sure about it but it will do for now!
As you may (or may not) know the Revlon Matte balms have been raved about on the internet, however I bought a normal colorburst ones accidentally due to the confusion of Boots website.
It is a bright glossy balm and costing £7.99 from Boots, fair price for what it is.
It applies nice and smoothly, very similar to a tinted Lip Balm, though this has way more pigment. Even after an hour you can rub your lips together without removing all the skin off your lips (you know the feeling). It is very moisturising and non sticky - Finally something non sticky!
I wear this quite a lot as it is still very bold for my complexion but i love it and looking to buy some more, including the matte balms as they seem utterly intriguing.

Natural Collection Duo Eye-shadow Mink&Sable

This had to be one of the first eye shadows that I have ever bought, which is crazy! As it is from the Boots brand Natural Collection which is a cheaper brand. It is £1.99 from Boots.
It is a very natural duo shadow, a darker colour for the crease as well.

The Mink (lighter) colour is good, covers my slightly red lids well but doesn't last for a full day. If their is any fall down i can not tell as it is so light. Also it doesn't crease, which is amazing for such a cheap shadow!

These are very heavy swatched, as you can see the dark one does not show up very dark at all.

Mink & Sable
Light Swatch

Is there a cheap eyeshadow which you find great?

Vivo Haul!

So its September, one of my favourite months, it means going back to school/work (not so good) and the leaves fall off the trees. So i thought why not start September on a happy note- a Vivo Haul!
I am very excited to try all these products (expect a whole bunch of Vivo reviews).
All this (excluding the 1 item not from Vivo) cost me £11 in the 50% off sale, so it usually is £22.
If you want to visit Vivo's website click here!
This Trio eye-shadow palette is called Bronze Me Up, and it has a beautiful highlighter shade for your browbone, i can tell i am going to get tons of use out of this one. From what i can tell the pigment is 'ok'.
Is it retailed for £2.50.

Swatches of the colours in order are shown below.

Next i bought was a primer, can't say anything about this yet as i have not tried it.Though it is said mattifying. It is £6.00 usually.

I also this Beauty Balm in warm ivory, as my skin has been good lately so i wanted something lightweight. It is usually £5
Also i bought this Under Eye Roll on concealer, again haven't tried it yet. (£3.59)
Another item was the Gel Liner which was £3.49.
Finally from Vivo i bought this Lip Gloss which isin shade 6- Heavenly. It is quite a Deep Berry colour perfect for winter!

From Boot i ordered a Real Techinque's Expert Face brush on a whim!
I had to buy it though as its by Samantha Chapman, i mean c'mon? :)

Have you tried any of these products? Comment below!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Phenomenon 100

The Rimmel Apocalips Lips Lacquer has been reviewed by bloggers and talked about so much so i thought i would get it, also as i have mentioned i have had a bit of a lip gloss/stick/stain/lacquer urge.
It is £6.49 at Boots -link-.
The  packaging of this product is beautiful, it has to be one of my favourite all time packaging! I like how you can see the colour at the bottom, just overall pretty.
It has a doe foot applicator, like most lip glosses, which is bendy and glides on the lips nicely.

One thing i hate about the product is the taste and the smell when you first apply it, it is awful! After a while it goes but not very nice to begin with!

On the plus side it is very pigmented and is not sticky! You would need to re-apply during the day for that glossy look.
Overall a great product apart from the taste/smell!
What do you think of the Rimmel Apocalips Lips?

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

This has to be one of my all time favourite concealers and it has been raved about a lot in the beauty world!
You can purchase this from Boots here for £4.19.

This Concealer is liquid which i prefer for under my eyes, as it is not as dehydrating (i think so anyway :/).
Another point is that it does not make my blemishes/spots worse the day after i take it off.

When i have dark under eye circles (which are often) it really does conceal them and does not wear off, so makes me look like i have slept for 12 hours for 12 hours
!
Though I have found when i apply it under my eyes, after a long day it does tend to crease! You can apply a primer and this problem will go away.

It applies with a soft tip brush type thing, it is easy to apply (great for people in a rush).

Tip: After you have applied it DON'T rub as this smears it to other parts of your face, not the part you actually want to conceal. The best way which i have found is to dab lightly and it works a treat!

MUA Eye shadow Palette- Heaven & Earth: First Impressions

I am definitely a neutral eye-shadow girl and do not really like bold colours, also do not like to spend a lot of money. So when i saw this eye-shadow palette from MUA that looks very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette i was ecstatic!

MUA (Make Up Academy) is only available in Superdrug and the MUA website, this eye-shadow was £4.

The pigment in the eye-shadows are 'ok' not fabulous but you can build if necessary, the darker colours are more pigmented and between the lighter colours there is not much difference. You have to remember thous there are 12 colours for £4 so it wouldn't be amazing.
Some of the darker shades have a nice glittery which is lovely and totally affordable for a budget.

Overall i give this a 4* out of 5, as it good and affordable!
